Letter: Deal firmly with animal torturers

But just look around you and see what awful animal cruelties are inflicted on helpless animals. They are exploited and abused in every manner imaginable, and our society continues to condone and accept these brutalities as "not very important" with little or no punishments for offenders. Teaching children respect for all life seems to have been forgotten, and look where we're at -- children torturing/killing animals -- children killing children -- children killing parents -- unprecedented violence!

The young adults involved in this animal cruelty must be made responsible for their vile actions, with appropriate punishment and criminal animal abuse charges filed. This wasn't a childish prank gone awry; this was premeditated animal torture. Slap them on the wrist this time, and the next animal they decide to violently attack just might be human, and someone you care for.
