Kayandray Jamerson, 16, was at Thursday his mother's apartment in Lancaster.
Jamerson is charged with attempted murder for the Sept. 26 shooting of the 16-year-old girl at a Sparks apartment.
Officers said the girl was shot in the groin, but the bullet traveled upward through her body and lodged in her upper arm.
She remained hospitalized in critical condition.
The suspect was being held in Los Angeles County, where he faces charges of violating probation from a 1997 armed robbery conviction.
Sparks police said Jamerson might not be returned to Nevada until the California charges are dealt with.
