Five UNLV professors honored for excellence in teaching, scholarship

Five UNLV professors were recently honored for outstanding scholarship and teaching.
Associate professor of psychology Christopher Kearney and professor of music Carol Kimball each received the Barrick Distinguished Scholar Award, which carries with it a $5,000 cash award.
Kearney operates the university's Child School Refusal and Anxiety Disorders Clinic and serves as associate editor of the journal Behavior Therapy. Kimball founded the UNLV Opera Theatre and will publish "The Songs of Jacques Leguerney" later this year.
Assistant mathematics professor Zhonghai Ding's research and philosophy professor Paul Schollmeier's publishing earned them Barrick Scholar Awards of $2,500 each.
Associate professor of psychology Christopher Heavey was awarded $2,000 for the Alex and Faye Spanos Distinguished Teaching Award.
