Ofelia Abril

Ofelia Abril, 82, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. She was born Dec. 25, 1917, in Colombia. A resident for 28 years, she was a retired seamstress.

She is survived by four daughters, Julia Meisenheimer, Laura Burgos and Emilce Abril, all of Las Vegas, and Dora Abril of Colombia; one son, Jaime Pena of Cape Coral, Fla.; 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today with a 6 p.m. service in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Mass will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Anne Catholic Church, 1901 S. Maryland Parkway.

Gladys Alridge

Gladys Alridge, 81, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. A resident for 11 years, she was born Aug. 11, 1919, in New York.

She is survived by one son, Charles G. Alridge, and two sisters, Anna Vancleaf and Marilyn Logue, all of New York; and one brother, Henry McPeak of Arizona.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Holy Family Catholic Church, 4490 Mountain Vista St. Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Leoncio J. Barbosa

Leoncio J. Barbosa, 77, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born July 25, 1923, in Puerto Rico. A resident for 12 years, he was a television technician and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Rose; one son, Bill Barbosa of California; one daughter, Suzette Barbosa of Las Vegas; one sister, Sherry Aliano of New York; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Allen Clarence Black

Allen Clarence Black, 85, of Hesperia, Calif., died Aug. 6 in Hesperia. He was born July 28, 1915, in Utah. A former Las Vegas resident for many years, he was an operating engineer at the Flamingo Hilton.

He is survived by two daughters, Sandra Witt of Orem, Utah, and Krystal Lynne Pexton of Leavenworth, Kan.; three sons, Robert G. Black of St. George, Utah, A. Hardy Black of Hesperia and Kerry C. Black of Fallbrook, Calif.; three brothers, Lew Black of Henderson, Lyle Black of Ogden, Utah, and Joe Black of Quartzsite, Ariz.; one sister, Dorothy Mae Millet of Moroni, Utah; 50 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Anne Marie Carroll

Anne Marie Carroll, 80, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. She was born July 31, 1920, in Cambridge, Mass. A resident for 31 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Francis L.; two sons, Phil Carroll of Silverdale, Wash., and Greg Carroll of Las Vegas; two daughters, Pam Carroll of Silverdale and Joy Carroll of Las Vegas; one brother, Edward Brogan of Concord, N.H.; two sisters, Helen Desmond of Salt Lake City and Patsy Queenan of Boston; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 10 a.m. services Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Burial will be private.

Martha J. Catania

Martha J. Catania, 85, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. A member of Eastern Radiant Chapter 195, she was born May 30, 1915, in Boston.

She is survived by two sons, Charles F. Catania and Joseph R. Catania.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Mel Dugan

Mel Dugan, 76, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born July 3, 1924, in Toledo, Ohio. A resident for 32 years, he was a retired hotel security guard and World War II Navy and Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; one son, Thomas Dugan, and one stepdaughter, Vicki-Lynn Garcia, both of Las Vegas; one stepson, Gary Waxler of Bullhead City, Ariz.; one brother, Ed Long, and one sister, Leona Kerstetter, both of Toledo; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Olga Figa

Olga Figa, 82, of Las Vegas died Aug. 14 in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 25, 1918, in Pittsburgh. A resident for 30 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Wilma Figa of Las Vegas and Linda Newton of California; and two grandchildren.

Henry L. Flowers Jr.

Henry L. Flowers Jr., 35, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 10, 1964, in Louisiana. A resident for 35 years, he was a hotel houseman.

He is survived by his wife, Dawn; two daughters, Marie Flowers and Ashley Flowers, one son, Henry Flowers, his mother, Annie Flowers, one brother, Charles Flowers, three sisters, Connie Ruiz, Angela A. Lee and Balisha Jimerson, and his grandfather, Allen Stark, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 2-8 p.m. Thursday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Greater St. Paul Church of God in Christ, 911 N. G St. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Sema H. Galle

Sema H. Galle, 83, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born July 4, 1917, in Bay City, Mich. A resident for 22 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Galle, and one son, Louis Galle, both of Santa Barbara, Calif.; three sisters, Marcia Abdouch of Hollywood, Calif., Sarah Rallis of Las Vegas and Bernadine Hamway of Bay City, Mich.; and three brothers, Bernard Nassif and Richard Nassif, both of Saginaw, Mich., and Sam Nassif of Bay City.

Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 130 N. Pecos Road, Henderson. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Gary Dean Gilreath

Gary Dean Gilreath, 48, of Laughlin died Sunday in Laughlin. He was born Aug. 6, 1952, in Minnesota. A resident for many years, he was a laborer on road construction.

He is survived by one son, Jason Gilreath, and his parents, Donald and Anita Beth Gilreath, all of Minnesota.

Redding Hicks

Redding Hicks, 63, of Las Vegas died Aug. 2 in Las Vegas. He was born July 16, 1937. A resident for many years, he was a Vietnam War Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Lynley Hicks of Colorado.

Angela Christina Hughes

Angela Christina Hughes, 25, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 10, 1975, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, she was a waitress.

She is survived by her stepfather, Robert L. Adams of Ohio; her mother, Martha, one brother, Brian A. Roberts, one sister, Nichol R. Adams, and her grandparents, Harol and Alva Hughes, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 11 a.m. services Thursday at the LDS chapel, 3400 W. Charleston Blvd. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens.

Gary Wayne Johnson Jr.

Gary Wayne Johnson Jr., 32, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 23, 1967, in Carlsbad, N.M. A resident for six years, he was a taxi driver and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his fiancee, Elena Amar of North Las Vegas; his mother, Sandra Gunn of Portales, N.M.; his father, Gary Johnson Sr., and one brother, Billy Johnson, both of Carlsbad; and four sisters, Cathy Johnson of Carlsbad, Melissa Perkins of Florida, Lynda Silver of Kaufman, Texas, and Rebecca Bandy of Portales.

James Paul Kinum Sr.

James Paul Kinum Sr., 65, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 1, 1934, in Missouri. A resident for seven years, he was a limo driver and an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Lori; one son, James Kinum Jr.; two daughters, Teri Kostiak and Tami Maneth; one brother, Glen Kinum Sr.; one sister, Carol Philler; and nine grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Kathie Ann Linton

Kathie Ann Linton, 40, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 12, 1960, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, she was a taxicab driver.

She is survived by two sons, Scott Gene Woodruff and William Chad Woodruff, her mother, Gloria Ann Harrison, her father, Troy Lee Linton, one sister, Evelyn Bush, and two brothers, Eugene Linton and Michael Linton, all of Las Vegas.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson.

Jenny Jaramillo Marlatt

Jenny Jaramillo Marlatt, 48, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 23, 1951, in San Miguel County, N.M. A resident for 30 years, she was a bakery server at Sam's Club and a 1968 graduate of Basic High School.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David, in January.

She is survived by two daughters, Carrie Thaw of Woodbury, Minn., and Ashley Marlatt of Las Vegas; one son, Bobby Miller of Las Vegas; her father, Luis Jaramillo of Las Vegas, N.M.; her mother, Carrie Jaramillo of Henderson; four sisters, Pearl Yeomen, Loretta Aranda, Anna Davis and Betty Rowe, all of Henderson; four brothers, Joe Jaramillo and Dewey Jaramillo, both of Henderson, Luis Jaramillo of Las Vegas and Steven Jaramillo of Greeley, Colo.; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday in Calvary Chapel of Spring Valley, 7175 W. Oquendo Road. Burial will be private. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Shirley Mead

Shirley Mead, 74, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born May 9, 1926, in Wisconsin. A resident for many years, she was a registered nurse.

She is survived by her husband, Max Mark.

Alfred Lloyd Meeker

Alfred Lloyd Meeker, 84, of Henderson died Saturday in Henderson. He was born Jan. 12, 1916, in Plainview, Texas. A resident for 3 1/2 years, he was a truck driver, a member of the Moose and Elks.

He is survived by one son, Ronald Meeker of Pahrump; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Jordan 'Jano' Poropat

Jordan "Jano" Poropat, 87, of North Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 24, 1913, in Hoboken, N.J. A resident for nine years, he was a retired television stagehand.

He is survived by his wife, Yolanda G.; one daughter, Yoli Poropat of Toluca, Calif.; and one sister, Olympia Wagner of North Las Vegas.

Jenae Rachelle Sipe

Jenae Rachelle Sipe, 16, of Henderson died Aug. 12 in Henderson. She was born April 2, 1984, in Bakersfield, Calif. A resident for six years, she was a student.

She is survived by her father, Gregory A. Sipe of Bakersfield, Calif.; her mother, Debbie L. Sipe, and one sister, Lisa Lea Sipe, both of Henderson; one brother, Nathan Paul Sipe of Las Vegas; and her grandparents, Stan and Joyce Irving and Glen and Emma Sipe, all of Bakersfield.

Catherine Danton "Kitty" Smith, 61, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. She was born Aug. 9, 1939, in New York City. A resident for five years, she was a retired therapist.

She is survived by four sons, Jayson Miller DiCotignano of Las Vegas and Dean Miller, Michael Ayers and Karl Smith, all of Staten Island, N.Y.; two daughters, Noreen Heuser and Tammy Simoncini, both of Staten Island; three brothers, Anthony Danton of Jackson, N.J., Frank Danton of Staten Island and Patrick "Junior" Danton; and 10 grandchildren.

Doris "Mom" Smith, 79, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local care center. She was born June 1, 1921, in Ohio. A resident for 18 years, she was a professional poker player.

She is survived by one son, Donald Smith of Las Vegas; one daughter, Joyce Edgington of Tennessee; one brother, C. Chapman, and one sister, Ruth Ann, both of Ohio; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Julia Solicito

Julia Solicito, 84, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born March 30, 1916, in New York. A resident for 25 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Frank Solicito of New Jersey and Dominic Solicito of Las Vegas; four sisters, Rose Lubrano of New York, Mary Savino and Antonettie Capul, both of Las Vegas, and Annie Wymen; and four grandchildren.

Services were scheduled at noon today in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., followed by burial in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Frank E. Strunak

Frank E. Strunak, 80, of Henderson died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born July 20, 1920, in Ohio. A resident for 15 years, he was a retired supervisor for an aviation parts manufacturer and a member of Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; two stepdaughters, Donna M. Gazvoda of Phoenix and Bernie Cook of Fresno, Calif.; and one stepson, Andrew Gazvoda of Williamstown, N.J.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.

Billy Ray Wilson Sr.

Billy Ray Wilson Sr., 58, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 9, 1942, in Borger, Texas. A resident for eight years, he was a flight maintenance supervisor for an air cargo expeditor.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon A.; one daughter, Tina Montes, and one son, Billy R. Wilson Jr., both of Las Vegas; his stepfather, Howard Davis of Douglass, Kan.; two half-brothers, Curt Davis of Wichita, Kan., and Stacy Davis of Douglass; one aunt, Helen McCarthy of Borger; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 1-6 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Esther Mabel Wilson, 82, of Pahrump died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 18, 1918, in Iowa. A resident for 15 years, she was an officer at Bank of America.

She is survived by one son, James Wilson Jr. of Pahrump; one brother, Lyle Denton of Washington state; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Pahrump Family Mortuary, 2240 E. Calvada Blvd. Burial will follow in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.
