Barbara E. Blacker

Barbara E. Blacker, of Santa Rosa, Calif., died Oct. 20 in Santa Rosa. A former Las Vegas resident for 50 years, she was born in Wyoming. A member of the Eagles Lodge, she enjoyed reading, cooking, painting and square dancing.

She was preceded in death in 1994 by her husband of 57 years, Clifford.

She is survived by one son, Robert James Blacker; and one daughter, Nancy Blacker Oakes; one brother, Keith Spencer; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Neptune Society, Santa Rosa, is handling arrangements.

Melquidades 'Tito' Cardenas

Melquidades 'Tito' Cardenas, 67, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 27, 1932, in Mexico. A resident for 45 years, he was a church deacon and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by one son, Miguel Angel Cardenas of Las Vegas; four sisters, Leticia Cardenas and Rosa Elena Escobar, both of Mexico, Racquel Macias and Lupe Hernandez, both of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

Visitation will continue until 7 today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Anne Catholic Church, 1901 S. Maryland Parkway. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Evelyn L. Doss-Kaigler

Evelyn L. Doss-Kaigler, 48, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born March 9, 1951, in Ferriday, La. A resident for 36 years, she was an administrative assistant for Clark County.

She is survived by her husband, Keith T.; six daughters, Jenelle, Letisha, Lekesha, Kendra, Nicol and Deborah, one son, Tyrone, and three brothers, Fred Emile Schneider, James LeRoy Schneider and Bobby Ray Schneider, all of Las Vegas; and three sisters, JoAnn Abajian of Henderson and Jacqueline Childress and Ulrica Schneider-Eno, both of Las Vegas; and five grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 1-8 p.m. Thursday at American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Tree of Life Church of God in Christ. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Leah M. Greenhill

Leah M. Greenhill, 83, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 1, 1915, in Keiler, Wis. A resident for 44 years, she was a retired wedding gown finisher, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Dolan Springs, Ariz., and the Butterflies Square Dance Club of Las Vegas.

She is survived by her husband, Wesley H.; three sons, Lyn Greenhill of Roseville, Calif., Larry Greenhill of Reno and Lyle Greenhill of Las Vegas; one daughter, Linda Greenhill-Renshaw of Las Vegas; two brothers, Maurice Oyen of Connecticut and Melvin Oyen of Florida; two sisters, Mary Berning of Wisconsin and Genevieve Klasson of Iowa.; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Thursday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Sylvia Guttman

Sylvia Guttman, 98, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local health care center. She was born Jan. 8, 1901, in New York City. A resident for six years, she was a homemaker and well known for her charitable work with the National Council of Jewish Women.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jane Sturza; and one granddaughter.

She is survived by one son-in-law, Dr. Harold Sturza of Las Vegas; and one granddaughter, Hillary Joseph of Olympia, Wash.; and one grandchild.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Erna G. Leone

Erna G. Leone, 87, of Boulder City died Sunday in a local care center. She was born Jan. 31, 1912, in Alsenz, Germany. A resident for 56 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Floria M. Richardson of Sandpoint, Idaho, and Olivia L. Silas of Caliente, Calif.; one brother, Hans Gottlieb of Roswell, N.M.; one sister, Lily Timmons of Albuquerque, N.M.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Virginia Lucas

Virginia Lucas, 62, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local care center. She was born Nov. 23, 1936, in Demopolis, Ala. A resident for 36 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, James; one daughter, Amelia Crews of Las Vegas; one son, Abu Baker Mohammed of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one sister, Tommirree Backers of Pittsburgh; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled noon-8 p.m. Thursday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday in American Burial and Cremation Services. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Horace H. Lund

Horace H. Lund, 76, of Henderson died Monday in a local hospital. He was born June 27, 1923, in Salt Lake City. A resident for many years, he was a retired bricklayer, a World War II Air Force veteran and former POW and a lifetime member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craft Local 3.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia M.; one daughter, Tamara Jones of Henderson; four sons, Horace H. Lund Jr. of Bremerton, Wash., and Douglas Lund, Terry Lund and Kevin Lund, all of Henderson; one brother, Richard Lund of Reno; one sister, Daphney Johnson of Pleasant Grove, Utah; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 9-10:45 a.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Graveside services will follow at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Charles E. Martz Jr.

Charles E. Martz Jr., 83, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 7, 1915, in Sunbury, Pa. A resident for four years, he was a retired pressman in the printing industry and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret M.; four daughters, Adele M. Martz of Nyack, N.Y., Denise A. Stach of Elizabethtown, Pa., Linda R. Martino of Las Vegas and Lisa A. Underhill of Mifflinburg, Pa.; three sons, Charles E. Martz III of Germany, Joseph N. Martz of Las Vegas and Clifford A. Martz of Font Hill, Ontario; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Dorothy B. Metzger

Dorothy B. Metzger, 80, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. She was born Jan. 17, 1919, in Cleveland. A resident for 21 years, she was in the real estate business in Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

She is survived by one sister, Elaine Metzger of Las Vegas.

Ralph Lloyd Mittan

Ralph Lloyd Mittan, 75, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born June 26, 1924, in Minnesota. A resident for five years, he was a director for an insurance company and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Mary J.; one daughter, Melissa Horton of Oregon; two sons, Kevin Mittan and Jeff Chaffin, one brother, Robert Mittan, and two sisters, Shiela McGowan and Jackie Johnson, all of California; and one grandchild.

Roy J. Oshinski

Roy J. Oshinski, 47, of Henderson died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 8, 1951, in Queens, N.Y. A resident for 15 years, he was an automotive mechanic and a Vietnam War Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Tena; two daughters, Casey Oshinski of Las Vegas and Heather Oshinski of Phoenix; one son, Johnmichael Oshinski of Las Vegas; his mother, Evelyn Jeffries of Henderson; two brothers, Chuck Oshinski of Phoenix and Frank Oshinski of Greensboro, N.C.; and one sister, Rosemary Clement of Las Vegas.

Robert Lee Ramsay

Robert Lee Ramsay, 55, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. He was born June 10, 1944, in New Mexico. A resident for 20 years, he was self-employed in real estate.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; two sons, David M. Ramsay of Phoenix and Aaron L. Ramsay of Las Vegas; one daughter, Patricia L. Farley of Quantico, Va.; his mother, Eleanore Ramsay of Phoenix; and six grandchildren.

Gail Ann Regan

Gail Ann Regan, 45, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 7, 1953, in San Jose, Calif. A resident for 10 years, she was a registered nurse at University Medical Center.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis M.; two sons, Jeremy M. St. Clair and Christopher Higashi, both of Las Vegas; her mother, Marna Steffen, and two sisters, Roseann M. St. Clair and Susan D. Fierro, all of Sacramento; two brothers, Michael R. St. Clair of Petaluma, Calif., and Robert L. St. Clair of Terre Haute, Ind.; and one grandson.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Ethel Rein, 76, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. A resident for five years, she was born May 29, 1923, in the Bronx, N.Y.

She is survived by her husband, Samuel; and one daughter, Adrienne Zoin of Las Vegas.

Helen P. Rowe

Helen P. Rowe, 77, of North Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 21, 1921, in Heavener, Okla. A resident for 54 years, she was a retired secretary to the postmaster, a member of the Silver Thread Quilters, Sunrise Hospital Auxiliary and Southgate chapter of Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda Lintner of Boulder City; one son, Edward Rowe of Yucca Valley, Calif.; one sister, June Dalton of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; one brother, Jack Howard of Overton; and four grandchildren.

Mary Seewald, 86, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 5, 1913, in New York. A resident for 19 years, she was a cleaning lady.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann Perisich, one son, Richard Seewald, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Anna Chmela of Little Neck, N.Y.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Max Samuel Shapiro

Max Samuel Shapiro, 88, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. He was born May 30, 1911, in Denver. A resident for 33 years, he was a self-employed pharmacist and real estate developer.

He is survived by one daughter, Kelli S. Schiro of Las Vegas; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Rose Sivak, 91, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in North Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 25, 1907, in Poland. A resident for many years, she was a homemaker.

Mary Ellen Spehnjak, 68, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospice. She was born April 5, 1931, in Snowden, Pa. A resident for 12 years, she was a retired sales clerk.

She is survived by one daughter, Diann; four sisters, Janet Harding of Fairmont, W.Va., Rita Kominowski of Orlando, Fla., Verla Dupuis of Las Vegas and Phyllis Boehm of Spring Valley, Ohio; three brothers, William Murray and Alfred Murray, both of Fairmont, W.Va., and Philip Murray of Dayton, Ohio; and two grandchildren.

He is survived by one daughter, Daisyann St. Clair; one brother, L.B. St. Clair; and two sisters, Virgie Waller and Mary Robinson.

Betty Jo Tarantino, 51, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born June 19, 1948, in Denver. A resident for four years, she was a uniform saleswoman.

She is survived by one daughter, Candace Gorman of Las Vegas; one son, Timothy Gorman of Huntington Beach, Calif.; her father, Joseph Tarantino, and one brother, Anthony Joseph Tarantino, both of Lakewood, Colo.

Edward Richard Walka, 55, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born May 20, 1944, in New York City. A resident for 19 years, he was a retired Air Force chief master sergeant and Vietnam War veteran. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; one son, Stephen Edward Walka of Las Vegas; his father, Edward E. Walka of Astoria, N.Y.; and one sister, Patricia Walka-Gergenti of Forest Hills, N.Y.

Art Wandtke, 63, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 7, 1935, in Toledo, Ohio. A resident for 27 years, he was a retired carpenter, a member of the Foresters and Carpenters Local 1977 and a former member of the Moose.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; one daughter, Michelle Lawn of Temperance, Mich.; two sons, Gregory Wandtke of Indian Springs and Richard Wandtke of Las Vegas; his father, Arthur Wandtke of Oregon, Ohio; and six grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Leonard Lee Woodrum

Leonard Lee Woodrum, 83, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 2, 1916, in West Virginia. A resident for 53 years, he was a PBX repairman for Central Telephone Co. for more than 40 years, an Army veteran, a member of the Eagles and the National Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

He is survived by two sons, Rodny Lee Woodrum and Steven Wayne Woodrum; three daughters, Mignon Frostick, Sarita Rae Woodrum and Cindy Woodrum; one brother, Ralph Woodrum; one sister, Irene McBride; and one grandchild, Joshua Woodrum.

Graveside services will be noon Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.
