Longer hours set for Farmers Market
Thursday, June 10, 1999 | 9:26 a.m.
Longer summer days mean the hours for today's downtown Henderson Farmers Market have been extended from 4 to 8 p.m. until further notice.
"We had a lot of requests (from patrons) to extend the market," said Pam Erickson, spokeswoman for the city's community development department that organizes the weekly event in the Civic Center Plaza.
"The farmers are still selling right up until 8 p.m., and we still have the large crowd at the beginning. People are just happy to have a farmers market to go to."
The market is averaging about 3,000 visitors a week, and the total number of vendors since the market opened in mid-April has increased to 30. This week nine farmers are hawking their fruits and vegetables.
