Fire injures Venetian worker

A worker sustained burns to his arms in a brief fire Tuesday morning at the Venetian hotel-casino.

A worker was stirring a paint product with a drill outside the fourth floor of the Venetian when the drill sparked, causing fumes to ignite, Clark County Fire Department spokesman Bob Leinbach said.

Workers using 46 fire extinguishers put out the fire before fire crews arrived.

An exterior wall and some supplies were burned, Leinbach said. The injured worker was taken to the hospital.
