John Adam Apfel

John Adam Apfel, 50, of Las Vegas died Oct. 30 in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 2, 1949, in New York. A resident for 30 years, he was a registered nurse and a veteran.

He is survived by one son, Matthew Apfel, one daughter, Jennifer E. Apfel, both of Las Vegas; four brothers, Paul Apfel of California, George Apfel of Las Vegas, Henry Apfel of Florida and Bob Apfel of South Carolina; one sister, Ginny Barnett of Texas; and one grandchild.

Services were scheduled at 1 p.m. today in Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson. A private burial followed.

Expectacion 'Bennie' Escote Augusto

Expectacion "Bennie" Escote Augusto, 67, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 8, 1931, in Nabas Aklan, Philippines. A resident for five years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Segundiano; two sons, John Donald Evangelio of Las Vegas and Peter Angel of Bakersfield, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon-7 p.m. Thursday with a 5 p.m. service in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Additional services will be noon Friday in Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church, 3050 Alta Drive. Burial will be 2 p.m. Friday in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest.

Matthew Todd Brown

Matthew Todd Brown, 21, of Las Vegas died Sunday. He was born July 15, 1978, in Las Vegas. A resident for 21 years, he was a heavy equipment operator for the RAMM Corp.

He is survived by his parents, Monte and Annette Brown, one sister, Mandy Brown, his grandparents, Harold and Valeen Murray, Charles and Laurelie Brown and Robert and Carma Hartman, and his great-grandmother, Leona Brown, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services will be noon Thursday in the LDS Lone Mountain Stake Center. Graveside services will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest.

James Conway Brugh

James Conway Brugh, 55, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 25, 1944, in Arizona. A resident for three years, he was a computer salesman.

He is survived by his wife, Tina; one son, James Kevin Brugh of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; his mother, Sara; one brother, Joseph Brugh of Tempe, Ariz.; and one sister, Dana Ruth of Elk City, Ore.

Services are scheduled 3-5 p.m. today in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Susan Alice Civittolo

Susan Alice Civittolo, 67, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 15, 1932, in Connecticut. A resident for 14 years, she was a die cutter in the silk screening industry.

She is survived by one son, Carmen Civittolo of Las Vegas, one brother, Joe Mantanaro of Connecticut; and two sisters, Rose Maglio of Las Vegas and Angie Ventresca of Connecticut.

Leonard James Creasy

Leonard James Creasy, 78, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born June 7, 1921, in Dow, Okla. A resident for 19 years, he was a truck driver for 50 years and a member of Teamsters Local 631.

He is survived by his wife, Neva Louise; one daughter, Connie Hostetter of Clifton Forge, Va.; one sister, Marcella Pounds of Las Vegas; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Bill Denton, 77, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 23, 1922, in Phoenix. A resident for 19 years, he was a retired bus driver and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Bernetta; two daughters, Gloria J. Gonzales of San Diego and Karen L. Boleyn of Paramount, Calif.; one son, Ed Denton of Las Vegas; one brother, Perry Denton of Lancaster, Calif.; seven grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will be private.

Rebah deRyk

Rebah deRyk, 91, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born April 6, 1908, in Missouri. A resident for eight years, she owned and operated a beauty salon.

She is survived by three nephews, Jack Todd of Las Vegas, Gerald Todd of Oregon and James Blankenship of California; and two nieces, George Ann Sonju of Utah and Charlene Curt of California.

Ruth S. Femenella

Ruth S. Femenella, 93, of Henderson died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 15, 1905, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 18 years, she was a retired accountant for Citibank.

She is survived by one son, Robert V. Femenella, and one sister, Emma Sigg, both of Henderson; one brother, Chris Estby of Hartford, Conn.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 6-8 p.m. today in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. No local services are scheduled.

Ellen A.L. Holt, 58, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 24, 1941, in Aberdeen, Wash. A resident for eight years, she was a Mahoney's casino bingo agent.

She is survived by her husband, Harvey G.; one son, Darrell L. Holt of Las Vegas; two daughters, Allana M. Barden of Las Vegas and Stephanie L. Holt of San Jose, Calif.; three brothers, George P. Boskovich of Pahrump, Alexander J. Boskovich of Santa Clara, Calif., and Michael Boskovich of Portola, Calif.; and two sisters, Rosalie Hain of Santa Clara and Martha P. Bonson of Reno.

Charles O. Johnson

Charles O. Johnson, 74, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 15, 1925, in Marshaltown, Iowa. A resident for 27 years, he was a retired owner-operator of Vegas King Catering Service in Las Vegas and River King Catering Service in Davenport, Iowa, and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Viola K.; two daughters, Sandra Ivy-Whorton and Eloise Carlin, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Doris Votruba of Clemons, Iowa; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Charles W.; two sons, Leroy Kalar of California and Charles R. Kalar of Wisconsin; one daughter, Bonnie J. Moen of Wisconsin; one sister, Jacqueline Schumacher of California; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Clint Schofield Larson

Clint Schofield Larson, 70, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 23, 1929, in Roosevelt, Utah. A resident for four years, he was a retired teacher, a Korean War Army veteran, a member of Elko County Teachers Association and an ordinance worker in the LDS Temple.

He is survived by his wife, Nada Joy; one son, Kurt G. Larson of Salt Lake City; two daughters, Kaye Larson and Kristi Larson Giles, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Tharla Holyoak of Monticello, Utah; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5:30-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be noon Saturday in the LDS Mustang Stake Center.

Rafael E. Lopez

Rafael E. Lopez, 88, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 1, 1911, in Puerto Padre Oriente, Cuba. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired electrical technician.

He is survived by his wife, Francisca Il Lopez.

Arthur A. Lyons

Arthur A. Lyons, 59, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born April 12, 1940, in Denver. A resident for seven years, he was an automotive mechanic.

He is survived by his wife, Viola; one sister, Lillian Madrid of Las Vegas; and one brother, Charles Lyons of Huntsville, Ala.

William Manning Jr.

William Manning Jr., 46, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born April 23, 1953, in Oakland, Calif. A resident for two years, he was an accountant.

He is survived by two daughters, Alci Manning and Rochell Manning, both of San Jose, Calif.; his parents, Isabel and William Manning Sr. of Modesto, Calif.; one brother, Edwin Manning of Las Vegas; three sisters, Virginia L. Brooks and Roberta Manning, both of Modesto, and Cbarinda F. Manning of California; and one grandchild.

Vincent Mele Sr., 72, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born May 8, 1927, in Morristown, N.J. A resident for 24 years, he was a retired grocery store manager and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; two daughters, Patricia Cohan of San Diego and Catherine Mele-Hetter of Tacoma, Wash.; two sons, Edward Mele of Charlotte, N.C., and Vincent Mele Jr. of Henderson; one sister, Jeannie McGuiness of Morris Plains, N.J.; one brother, John Mele of Mendham, N.J.; and five grandchildren.

Seymour Newmark

Seymour Newmark, 81, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 5, 1918, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 28 years, he was an investigator for 14 years at Nevada State Consumer Affairs, past professor at Golden Gate University and Clark County Community College, a World War II Army veteran, a former member of the Senior Citizens Law Project Advisory Board and past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1819 of Port Washington, N.Y.

He is survived by his wife, Blanche; one son, Henry Newmark of Los Angeles; one daughter, Joyce Newmark of Lancaster, Pa.; one sister, Edith Rutman of Miami; and one granddaughter.

Jose Ostos, 83, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 13, 1916, in Mexico. A resident for 14 years, he was a retired farmer.

He is survived by five daughters, Irma Valdez, Lory Jimenez, Elizabeth Ostos and Terrie Cordero, all of Las Vegas, and Adela Velasco of Santa Barbara, Calif.; three sons, Joseph Ostos of Las Vegas, Alfred Ostos of LeGrand, Calif., and Peter Ostos of Santa Barbara, Calif.; one sister, Louisa Acosta of Texas; 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Addie Ruth Parks, 51, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 27, 1948, in Hemphill, Texas. A resident for 36 years, she was a hotel food server.

She is survived by one son, Terrance M. Parks, and two daughters, Tonisha Adams and Monique Myles, all of Las Vegas; three brothers, Tracy Parks of Las Vegas, Wendell Parks of Tucson, Ariz., and Armour Parks Jr. of Hemphill; six sisters, Jessie Mae Robinson, Bessie Lee Myles, Gloria Jean Harris and Susan Beth Parks, all of North Las Vegas, and Deborah Brown and Queen E. Parks, both of Las Vegas; and four grandchildren.

Donald A. Ramey, 75, of North Las Vegas died Thursday in North Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 16, 1924, in Ashland, Ky. A resident for 40 years, he was a retired hotel security officer and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Debbie Yahraus of Henderson and Donna Ramey of Kalispell, Mont.; two sons, Donald Yahraus of Henderson and Timothy Ramey of Las Vegas; one sister, Katherine Booten of Columbus, Ohio; and five grandchildren.

She is survived by one son, Robert Schultz of California; two daughters, Carolee of Las Vegas and Janet Ivy of North Carolina; two brothers, William Shivitz and Edward Shivitz; one sister, Genevive Minardo; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Ann E. 'Billie' Smith, 86, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 1, 1912, in Caldwell, Ohio. A resident for 57 years, she was a homemaker and was helpful in starting the D4C Ranch with Hoot Gibson, J.D. Smith and her husband, Ira Smith.

She is survived by one nephew, Tod Young of Las Vegas.

Phyllis F. Snedeger

Phyllis F. Snedeger, 64, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born March 16, 1935, in Sioux City, Iowa. A resident for 30 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Karl H.; two daughters, Vicky Lynn Simons of Las Vegas and Iona Lee Alderete of Henderson; one son, Karl Snedeger of Las Vegas; her father, Herbert W. Robson of North Salt Lake, Utah; one brother, Wendell Robson of Mesa, Ariz.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Charles A. Willingham, 83, of Boulder City died Thursday in Boulder City. He was born June 3, 1916, in Anderson, S.C. A resident for 11 years, he was a retired machine shop owner-operator and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Suzanne N.; one daughter, Vicki Dendy of Prescott, Ariz.; three stepsons, Robert Dufek of Phoenix, Daniel Dufek of Boulder City and William Dufek of Ukiah, Calif.; three sisters, Anne Gilbert of Birmingham, Ala., Mary Faye Clark of Johnson City, Tenn., and Jean Livesay of Daltona, Fla.; one brother, John Willingham of Blountville, Tenn.; and 11 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Anne Catholic Church Building Fund, 1901 S. Maryland Parkway. Eleanor C. 'Ellie' Woodard

Eleanor C. 'Ellie' Woodard, 66, of Henderson died Thursday in Denver. She was born May 28, 1933, in Watertown, N.Y. A resident for 30 years, she was a legal assistant and a member of the National Association of Legal Assistants.

She is survived by her husband, William E.; one daughter, Susan Fuhriman of Concord, Calif.; four sons, William E. Woodard Jr. of Las Vegas, Steven Woodard and John C. Woodard, both of Henderson, and Michael Woodard of Clovis, N.M.; one sister, Phyllis Simpson of Watertown; one brother, Carl Goodfriend of Suisun City, Calif.; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.
