Education board revokes two teachers’ licenses
Friday, Aug. 13, 1999 | 12:16 p.m.
Members voted unanimously to pull the licenses of Ronald Keen, 39, a former Orr Middle School teacher in Las Vegas, and of William James Peterson, 40, a former Galena High School teacher in Reno.
Neither man showed up for a hearing at which they could have contested the revocations. The board's action Thursday means neither man can again teach in Nevada.
Keen pleaded no contest to one gross misdemeanor count of open and gross lewdness with a minor last October after three boys in a Bible group accused him of touching them inappropriately. He served 90 days in the Clark County Detention Center.
Peterson was given a sentence of 12 to 32 months on a felony charge of having sex with a student. He was accused of having sex with a 17-year-old girl in a Reno hotel.
