Obituaries for February 26, 1998

Doris Joyce Perks Anderson, 70, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 13, 1927, in Massachusetts. A resident for 18 years, she was a cook at Valley Hospital and a former member of the Moose Lodge.

She is survived by her husband, Billy; five sons, Robert W. Perks and Rod Anderson, both of Las Vegas, Howard F. Perks and Ronald Perks, both of Pennsylvania, and Joe Anderson of Kansas; two daughters, Cheryle L. Schoenberger and Rhonda Anderson, both of Las Vegas; one brother, Richard Graham of Las Vegas; one sister, Elsie Floray of Pennsylvania; 22 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

MARIAN E. BRENNAN

Marian E. Brennan, 84, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born March 3, 1913, in Indianapolis. A resident for 40 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by four sons, Robert H. Brennan of Henderson, William James Brennan of Gardena, Calif., Theodore Richards of Sacramento and Robert Richards of Eugene, Ore.; one sister, Helen Sollinger of Las Vegas; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

TONY CHRISTOPHER BROWN

Tony Christopher Brown, 33, of Reno died Monday in Reno. He was born Dec. 27, 1964, in Vicksburg, Miss. A former resident of Las Vegas for 28 years, he was a manager at International Game Technology.

He is survived by his fiancee, Bridgit Barainca, one daughter, Novina Brown, and one stepdaughter, Nicole Barainca, all of Reno; his parents, Thomas and Ouida Brown, and one sister, Angela Christine Brown, all of Las Vegas; two aunts, Camilla Brown of Los Angeles and Pat Winters of Vicksburg, Miss.; and four uncles, James Brown of Chicago, Gorman Brown of Chicago, B.R. Brown of Jackson, Miss., and David Eugene Brown of Vicksburg.

Visitation is scheduled 1-7 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Main. Additional services will be 1 p.m. Sunday in St. James Catholic Church, 820 N. H St. Graveside services will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

CAROL ANNE CAUDLE

Carol Anne Caudle, 81, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born March 6, 1916, in New York. A resident for 10 years, she was a medical transcriber and a Navy veteran.

She is survived by one son, William Caudle; one daughter, Killy Contreras; one brother, William M. Wise; two sisters, Jane Bidwell of Dallas and Nancy Gifford of New York; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

George Thomas Cavuoti, 52, of Las Vegas died Feb. 5 in Las Vegas. A resident for one year, he was born July 22, 1945, in New York.

GEORGE TIMOTHY COSTELLO

George Timothy Costello, 81, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 5, 1916, in St. Paul, Minn. A longtime resident, he was a chief operating officer for an independent air system firm and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by one son, Michael Costello of Minnesota; and one daughter, Sharon Greenbaum of Las Vegas.

OLLIE MAE DEL GIUDICE

Ollie Mae Del Giudice, 67, of Reno died Tuesday at her home in Reno. An employment counselor, she was born May 25, 1930, in Hale Center, Texas.

She is survived by three sons, Tommie Rogers of Oak Harbor, Wash., Rich Rogers of Yerington and Paul Del Giudice Jr. of San Diego; one daughter, Paula Del Giudice Wickersham of Las Vegas; four sisters, Dorothy Belcher of Arlington, Texas, Ruby Campbell of Tyler, Texas, Bonnie King of College Station, Texas, and Ruth Nichols of Cotton Center, Texas; two brothers, Wallace Cannon of Jacksonville, Texas, and Don Cannon of Hale Center; and six grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Reno Memorial Cremation and Burial Society is handling arrangements.

DAISY DIXON

Daisy Dixon, 81, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local nursing home. She was born June 17, 1916, in Louisiana. A resident for 46 years, she was a presser at a linen company and a member of the Pilgrim Christian Society.

She is survived by her companion, Foster Hayes Jr. of North Las Vegas; three sons, Elijah Hayes and Carl Hayes, both of Las Vegas, and Donald Hayes of North Las Vegas; five daughters, Lenora Winbush, Joyce Thompson and Leeann Hayes, all of Las Vegas, and Alma Hayes and Louise Hayes, both of North Las Vegas; one sister, Herma Jean Walkins of Chicago; one aunt, Alice Simonton of Wildsville, La.; 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Bunker Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 12:30 p.m. Friday in Bunker Chapel. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Joyce B. Eckel, 54, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born July 24, 1943, in Johnstown, Pa. A resident for three years, she was a retail shoe store owner-operator.

She is survived by one son, Greg Eckel of Portland, Ore.; one daughter, Amy Eckel of Homer, Alaska; her mother, Ethel Bloom, and two sisters, Joan Oswald and Sandra Buchan, all of Johnstown, Pa.

Ralph A. Forbes Jr., 46, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 24, 1951, in San Diego. A resident for 20 years, he was a professional musician.

He is survived by his parents, Ralph A. and Barbara Forbes of San Diego; and one sister, Donna Forbes of Salt Lake City.

Visitation is scheduled 1:30 p.m. until a 3 p.m. service Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Graveside services will follow at 4 p.m. Friday in Palm Memorial Park.

THEODORE GAGLIANO SR.

Theodore Gagliano Sr., 84, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born July 11, 1913, in Milwaukee. A resident for 47 years, he was a retired casino manager and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Vernie; four sons, Ted Gagliano Jr. and Ronald Gagliano, both of Las Vegas, Robert Gagliano of Cottonwood, Ariz., and James Gagliano of Riverside, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

GORDON LAWRENCE GANDY

Gordon Lawrence Gandy, 48, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 15, 1949, in Chicago. A resident for nine years, he was a porter and a member of the Culinary Union.

He is survived by his mother, Marie Gandy; and one sister, Jacquelyn Gandy.

TIMOTHY HINOJOSA

Timothy Hinojosa, 29, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 24, 1968, in Baltimore. A resident for three years, he was a hotel waiter.

He is survived by his mother, Beverly J. Hinojosa of Las Vegas; his father, Herbert Hinojosa of Boston; three sisters, Linda Long and Teri Hinojosa, both of Dallas, and Rebecca Hendricks of Tulsa, Okla.; two stepsisters, Tina Hinojosa of Boston and Angie Hinojosa of Ocala, Fla.; and one stepbrother, Michael Hinojosa of Boston.

FRANK JACKSON SR.

Frank Jackson Sr., 83, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born March 27, 1914, in Garriton, Ala. A resident for 20 years, he was an electrical sign hanger.

He is survived by two daughters, Beverly Ratchford of Las Vegas and Franchell Thomas of Los Angeles; three sons, Edward Jackson and Billy Jackson, both of Las Vegas, and Frank Jackson Jr. of Shreveport, La.; one brother, Sabe Jackson of Phenix City, Ala.; two sisters, Hattie P. Williams and Georgia L. Smith, both of St. Louis; 32 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-8 p.m. Friday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in American Burial and Cremation Services. A private burial will follow.

RAY C. MAHONE

Ray C. Mahone, 39, of Henderson died Feb. 4 in Las Vegas. He was born March 28, 1958, in Mississippi. A resident for 34 years, he was a sawmill worker.

He is survived by his parents, Edward and Effie Mahone of Mississippi.

ANTHONY ROY MANCUSO

Anthony Roy Mancuso, 68, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. A resident for 27 years, he was born May 24, 1929, in Rochester, N.Y.

He is survived by his wife, Angela; three daughters, Rosanne Lupinetti, Theresa Mancuso and Elaine Mancuso, all of Las Vegas; one son, Anthony Mancuso Jr., his mother, Rose Mancuso, one brother, Alfred Mancuso, and one sister, Dolores Silvio, all of Rochester; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in the Guardian Angel Catholic Church.

Kathryn McClaughry, 83, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 14, 1914, in Nebraska. A resident for 18 years, she was a tavern owner.

Elwyn Devere Price, 87, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 1, 1911, in Smithfield, Utah. A resident for 26 years, he was a carpenter and a member of Carpenters Union Local 1780.

He is survived by two daughters, Barbara L. McIntire of Weed, Calif., and Donna J. Frost of North Salt Lake, Utah; one son, Richard Elwyn Price of Magna, Utah; three brothers, Kenneth Price of Redondo Beach, Calif., Robert Price of Simi Valley, Calif., and Gerald Price of La Canada, Calif.; one sister, Aileen Routh of La Canada; 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

C. Joseph Purpora, 65, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born May 26, 1932, in New London, Conn. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired paper salesman and a Korean War Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; one son, Jon J. Purpora, and one daughter, Patricia A. Purpora, both of Las Vegas.

She is survived by one son, Steven Goodwine of Las Vegas; and two brothers, Byron Nolin of Hoopeston, Ill., and Gene Nolin of Cissna Park, Ill.

Michael David Tanner, 37, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 27, 1960, in Amesbury, Mass. A resident for four months, he was a lab technician.

Stella Taylor, 80, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 24, 1917, in St. Charles, Mo. A resident for 25 years, she was a retired waitress and an avid baseball fan.

She is survived by one daughter, Sharon A. Andrews of Henderson; one brother, Robert Gose of St. Charles; six grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 12:30-2:30 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Graveside services will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

NICK J. TIRABASSI

Nick J. Tirabassi, 77, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 27, 1920, in Cleveland. A resident for five years, he was a supervisor for a tool and die company, a World War II Army veteran, a member of the Canyon Gate Country Club, Knights of Columbus in Cleveland, Cleveland Italian-American Club in Los Angeles and the Porter Valley Country Club in California.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Monda; two daughters, Toni Brooks and Nicolette Russo, both of Las Vegas; two sons, Nick Tirabassi of Bell Canyon, Calif., and Joe Tirabassi of Las Vegas; two sisters, Mary Pillar of Cleveland and Elizabeth Di Didonato of Bonsall, Calif.; three brothers, Al Tirabassi and Lou Tirabassi, both of Cleveland and the Rev. Camillo Tirabassi of Fort Wayne, Ind.; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services were scheduled at 10 a.m. today in St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Catholic Church. Additional services will be in California. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Robert Phillip Trieb, 72, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 14, 1925, in Washington state. A resident for 37 years, he was a Courier Express driver.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene; one son, Robert Michael Trieb; two daughters, Denise Mayer and Deborol Hartman; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Doris E. White, 61, of Las Vegas died Feb. 19 in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 26, 1936, in New York. A resident for 15 years, she was a hospital telephone operator.

She is survived by her husband, Andrew C.; one son, Marcellus White; one daughter, Helen Clark of San Antonio; and two grandchildren.
