UNLV Golf One Shot off lead at John Burns tourney

KANEOHE, Hawai'i - The No. 1-ranked UNLV golf team is one shot off the lead after the first round of play Wednesday at the 21-team John A. Burns Intercollegiate at the par-72, 6,552-yard Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course located on the grounds of the Kaneohe Marine Corps Air Station. The Rebels (283, 5-under-par) are tied with Oklahoma (283) for the second spot behind Oklahoma State (282). Auburn (284) and Fresno State (284) are tied for fourth. Senior Bill Lunde (70, 2-under-par) and sophomore Jeremy Anderson (70) lead the Rebels individually and are in a seven-way tie for 11th place. New Mexico's Doug La Belle (66) has the tournament's individual lead by two shots. Junior Charley Hoffman (71) is tied for 18th, while junior Chris Berry (72) and freshman Scott Lander (72) are both tied for 25th. All five UNLV golfers shot even-par or better for the first round. The tournament will continue with 18 holes on Thursday and conclude with 18 on Friday.
