Letter: An open letter to our parents

You both came from Mexico as illegals with nothing but the clothes on your backs and found each other. You had three children who, to this day, you keep working hard for.

I don't tell you very often how proud I am to have parents like you. You have done so much for us, your children who are now adults. Everything you have done, you've done for us.

We never lived in the nicest homes or had a lot of money, but we had each other and we never went without. Our family has progressed thanks to you, the most hard-working people I know.

You have made us what we are today: three adults who have a lot going for them, not only as far as success, but as far as morals and good-heartedness.

To have a love so strong such as the love of our family and to be so united is something that most people envy. You've supported us through our dumb decisions and lent a helping hand when we needed it.

We've given you grief, and you've smiled through it. I hope that one day we can find a way to repay you for everything you've done.

All the times you let us use your shoulders to cry on, all the times you opened your arms to us, and all the times you turned the other cheek.

I only pray that we can find the love that you have found in each other with our life-partners. God has given us the best blessing in the world -- the love of two parents. Thank you, Mom and Dad. We love you!
