Explosion shatters home north of Reno

The owners, Richard and Devon Hahn, were at work and nobody was hurt in Wednesday afternoon's powerful blast that hurled debris as far as 700 feet. Nearby homes escaped damage and neighbors rescued the Hahn's dog.

Witnesses said the house seemed to expand, then the windows blew out and the roof lifted off. Little was left except the garage. A boat inside was unscathed.

The house, in the Antelope Valley area, had been up for sale for some time. Fire officials said most homes in the neighborhood use propane for heat.
