One of three casino developers may fold on temporary site

The city has set an informal Friday deadline for temporary casino proposals. Executives with Atwater/Circus Circus say, however, that they haven't been able to come up with a temporary downtown site with adequate parking.
"It may in the end be more valuable to go great guns with a permanent (casino) and get it operating and generating revenue," Circus Circus spokeswoman Sarah Ralston told The Detroit News in a report Wednesday.
MGM Grand Detroit is considering the old Internal Revenue Service building on the western edge of downtown for its temporary casino. The Greektown/Sault Ste. Marie Band of Chippewa Indians plans to put its temporary casino in Trapper's Alley in the Greektown entertainment district.
The Friday deadline was requested by Mayor Dennis Archer, who wants to hasten the review process by state regulators.
