Deadline set for misdemeanor fines

They used to be able to pay a $25 processing fee and 10 percent interest and make payments in any amount almost indefinitely. But no more.
Fines now are due within 30 days and it will cost $100 to get any extension on all but the larger assessments, the Lahontan Valley News and Fallon Eagle Standard reported.
Teurman said the smaller processing fee was one thing when it was imposed 23 years ago, but it's meaningless now, since the payments still have to be recorded by hand.
Not to mention the people who make the first payment, then stiff the court for the rest.
