That question will be addressed by Nevada regents this week.
Regent Shelley Berkley said there is strong community interest for such a program and she's calling for a feasibility study.
Berkley would like to see a study that considers costs and student demand. Any program would have to be self-supporting and draw on donors rather than tax subsidies, Berkley said.
College president Richard Moore said the topic of starting competitive programs in men's basketball and women's softball comes up from time to time.
