Letter: Coverage reveals depth of Family Court problems

In recent days and weeks, I have read with great interest the stories in the SUN of testimony presented to the Legislative Judiciary Committee charged with attempting to "repair" the ailing Clark County Family Court.

What I must say is this: If not for the excellent and tireless reporting last year of SUN correspondents Sandra Thompson, Rachael Levy and Bill Gang, Clark County residents might never have known the depth and breadth of problems that exist in the newly created Family Court, problems that range from mere "inconsistencies" to abject miscarriages of justice in a branch of law that goes to the very core of our lives -- our husbands, wives, children and grandchildren.

That series has now given voice to hundreds, perhaps thousands, of litigants claiming to be victimized by a system put in place to help them.

The Community Service Award bestowed by the Nevada Press Association on this team was undeniably well-deserved.
