The body of Shauna Maynard, 17, was found Tuesday morning. She was dead at the scene. She had been shot several times, police said.
Maynard was reported missing on Dec. 31 and was believed to be a runaway from Norco, Calif., police said.
"It is unclear to the detectives investigating this case who Shauna may have been staying with while she was in the Las Vegas area," homicide Sgt. Rocky Alby said. "A few people have come forward and acknowledged knowing Shauna, but also admit that there are many things about Shauna maynard that remain a mystery."
Police are asking anyone who may have had contact with the girl to call homicide 229-3521 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
