Don Henderson named state agriculture assistant administrator

Henderson, who has 13 years of experience in rangeland ecology and management, previously worked for a private consulting firm in Carson City.

The assistant administrator position was authorized by the 1997 Legislature.

In his new job, Henderson will work with federal, state and county agencies, as well as private industry and concerned citizens on issues dealing with the livestock industry, wild and feral horses and the control of noxious weeds.

Henderson's appointment was announced on Monday by Paul Iverson, division administrator.

"His leadership and experience affords us the opportunity to provide more effective services in these priority areas," Iverson said. "I look forward to sharing some of the administrative responsibilities in managing one of the state's larger, more diverse agencies."
