Letter: Quality of life is just fine here

This is in reply to Richard D. Manuel's letter (and all the others with similar complaints) regarding the quality of life in Las Vegas: Don't move here.

If you do, stop complaining about the slot machines, glitter, tourists, etc. I also am a transplant and I love it here. Everything. The slot machines in the strip malls, grocery stores and 7-Elevens (although I don't play them); gaudy buildings; and so-called lack of history.

I knew what Las Vegas was all about before I moved here and had the choice not to if I didn't like it. As far as "an abundance of people wandering around without purpose," I do have a purpose -- which is to make the most of my life and not tell other people what is wrong with theirs.

As far as the statement that "anything that can be done to improve the quality of life, reduce the dependence on gambling, create neighborhoods, and give the people some purpose would be an improvement": Leave us alone, and I personally am glad you're not moving here. We don't want you, either.
