As press attache at the American Embassy in Oslo, it was my role to handle the public relations for King for a week of Peace Prize events, including making arrangements for King's press conference for the international press covering the occasion.
It was my second tour as press attache in Oslo. In my first tour, 10 years earlier, I had the same role when Ralph Bunche, another black American, won the Nobel Peace Prize for his role as a United Nations official peacemaker in the Middle East.
