Disability Awareness Day at Lorenzi Park

More than 30 organizations serving the disabled will participate in the event, providing information on disability-related topics, including adaptive equipment, transportation, housing, legal services, benefits and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Local medical suppliers will provide complimentary wheelchair washes and minor tune-ups and Citizens Area Transit will have a bus available for disabled individuals to become familiar with the public transportation system. The Desert Sands Live Membership will supply free, custom-made lap boards, and donated adaptive equipment will be available to disabled individuals on a first come, first served basis.

Disability Awareness Day is a program of the Southern Nevada Center for Independent Living and the Las Vegas Adaptive Recreation Program. For more information, call Mike Wertz, 649-3822, or Cruz Bonilla, 870-7050.
