In Las Vegas, the Clark County Wetlands Park and Sunset Park will benefit from the March for Parks. Elizabeth Hamilton, 739-6862, is the organizer of the event.
More than 80,000 park lovers in all 50 states and Canada are expected to participate in 600 March for Parks events. Marches vary in size from a handful of park enthusiasts to more than 2,000 people, and the projects are as diverse as the communities that host March for Parks. This year's projects included repairing historic buildings, planting trees, improving hiking trails, creating recycling programs and developing environmental education programs. Unlike many fund-raising efforts, March for Parks ensures that 100 percent of the money raised by volunteers stays at the local level.
