CARSON CITY -- The Nevada Supreme Court Monday temporarily suspended Las Vegas attorney James A. Wagner, who pleaded guilty in February to attempted tax evasion. Wagner was placed on probation for five years by the federal court. The Supreme Court said Wagner will be on suspension until the Southern Nevada Disciplinary Board of the State Bar determines what penalty should be imposed.

CARSON CITY -- Gov. Bob Miller said Monday applications will be accepted until May 1 from 15 to 20 year olds who want to serve two-year terms on the Governor's Youth Advisory Council. The 10-member council, formed in 1996, advises the governor and attorney general on matters involving teens and young adults. It has focused on preventing teen pregnancy and is developing a presentation for middle schools on sexual abstinence. It also has made suggestions to the state Health Division on potential television and radio advertisements to discourage teen pregnancy. Application can be made by calling 1-800-992-0900 ext. 4485.

CARSON CITY -- A Carson City woman has been selected along with eight others to receive national awards for their volunteer efforts in helping the Bureau of Land Management. Lissa Davis was chosen for volunteering hundreds of hours to improve public lands. She organized clean-ups in the spring and fall to remove household trash, junk cars, batteries, livestock carcasses and other debris from sensitive areas near Virginia City. She will be honored with the "Making A Difference" award at a luncheon April 29 in Washington, D.C.
