Letter: State should take care of taxi drivers

Elvis Presley said it best ... TCB! If the state would take care of business, there wouldn't be any need for action from the drivers. Taxi-driver income has not kept pace with the cost of living.

Taxicab Administrator Bob Anselmo has implied that drivers, at best, have only half-full glasses. He is correct. Over the years, the state has not kept our glasses full -- they have made our glasses only half full by draining them with each allocation of more taxis, rather than first seeking to manage the current fleet efficiently.

For example, drivers who work the summer noon-to-midnight shift take home a $700 paycheck -- while drivers on a less efficient shift, with only 10-15 rides daily, take home less than $400 for two weeks of work.
