Letter: Privatize area’s detention centers

Either they are terribly negligent in their duties or, worse, they do not report one of their own when crimes are committed.

The state of Nevada had the right idea when they privatized their women's prison in North Las Vegas last year, saving taxpayers a quarter-million dollars per year and causing no problems. City and county corrections workers are paid significantly more than state corrections workers, so a huge amount of money could be saved for local taxpayers.

Let's start reinventing government, not just paying it lip service.
