Letter: New residents like what they’ve seen of Las Vegas

While we thought we would not find replacements, having lived a commuting distance from the Big Apple, we have found many cultural delights. We spent two charming evenings at the Nevada Dance Theatre (supported in part by the Mirage and others). We had given up our box seats at the Met with the American Ballet Theatre.

We had another wonderful night at the Winchester Community Center listening to an inspiring Cajun-Zydeco group from Canada that played two hours with only one short break.

We have lived here four months without visiting a convenience store -- except for gas -- and recognize that this city was built on gaming and offers great entertainment and food values for those who seek it.

Since most of the people we meet are "immigrants," there is an immediate acceptance and friendship bond that can be made for those who are so inclined without listening to someone tell you about how their ancestors built this city or state.
