Helen Meyer Community Center dedicated

The 11 a.m. dedication ceremony, hosted by Commissioner Erin Kenny, will honor Mr. and Mrs. Paul Meyer, benefactors of the park, community center and park amenities. Following the ceremony, the public is invited to tour the building and meet the Meyers and Parks and Recreation staff. There will be a children's activity area and entertainment by the Walt Boenig Brass Band.

The nearly 6,000-square-foot center will be operated by the Clark County Department of Parks and Recreation. The facility contains a large multi-purpose room, as well as rooms dedicated to crafts, active learning for pre-schoolers with an adjacent outdoor play area, dance and fitness and stationary games.

Funding for the project included $600,000 from the county's general fund and additional funds amounting to a total project cost of $1.1 million.

Project artitects were Lucchesi-Galati Architects and the contractor was B&H Construction. COnstruction administration was overseen by the Clark County General Services Department's Architectural and Engineering Division.
