Police: Prize tickets are bogus
Tuesday, April 14, 1998 | 10:28 a.m.
That's the word Elko police are getting out amid a flurry of tickets people are getting that say they have won a prize from an unnamed local merchant.
The ticket looks real, from its "Lucky You!!!" at the top, to its claim number, its enticing list of prizes and its phone number to call.
Elko Police Cpl. Will Lehmann said on Tuesday that people should toss the tickets or turn them over to the police department or the sheriff's office.
He added that under no circumstances should anybody show any kind of identification, as the ticket says they must.
