Troopers said Emil Berke, 66, was traveling northbound on the highway Monday evening and apparently was having problems with his pickup.
He was traveling at a slow speed and a tractor-trailer tried to pass him from behind just as Berke turned left into a driveway.
That flipped the pickup and Berke, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the big rig, William Sparkes, 62, of Bulls Gap, Tenn., was not injured seriously.
