Jones was diagnosed with the disease in January and had a lumpectomy shortly after that to remove a malignant growth. The cancer did not spread to her lymph nodes, increasing chances for a full recovery.
Jones said she is having a chemotherapy treatment every three weeks to catch any cancer cells that may have escaped.
The treatments should be completed by August, according to the mayor.
She has spent fewer hours at city hall since the diagnosis, but feels healthy, the mayor said.
Her goal now is to promote awareness about breast cancer among Las Vegas women, Jones said.
