Alpine Meadows Ski Resort near Tahoe City, Calif., reported 8 inches of snow on Saturday and another 10 inches by Sunday morning.
"This is probably the most snow we've had in a month," said Todd Bigham of Truckee, Calif. "It looks more like January than April outside."
Reno-Tahoe tourists returning home after the Easter weekend faced no weather-related delays Sunday as trans-Sierra highways were open with no controls.
The National Weather Service posted a snow advisory for Monday at Lake Tahoe, where another system was expected to dump as much as 10 inches of snow above 7,000 feet.
Forecasters were calling for a chance of snow to linger in the region through Wednesday before a return to dryer, warmer weather by the end of the week.
