Police link attack to serial rapist

A rape that occurred in northwest Las Vegas March 5 has been linked to a serial rapist who has struck four other times, mostly in southeast Las Vegas, Metro Police said.

Investigators on Wednesday linked that rape to the other rapes, Sexual Assault Detail Sgt. Clint Robison said.

The March 5 rape occurred at the St. Croix Apartment complex at 6661 Silverstream Ave., Robison said.

The victim, a 26-year-old woman, was attacked in the early morning hours.

She saw the suspect and described him as a white male in his early 20s with short and thin light-brown hair, 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 150 to 160 pounds.

Four of the sexual assaults took place in the southeast part of town near Flamingo and Pecos roads, Robison said. The first crime occurred Dec. 25, 1996.

The suspect, who has also ransacked victims' homes, stole a purse during an attack on March 24, police said. The suspect has also pistol whipped some of his victims and cut another with a knife, Robison said.

In one attack at the Polo Club apartment complex in the 2100 block of East Flamingo, he left behind a Nike "beanie cap," police said.

A $20,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the attacker. Police have asked anyone with information to call the Sexual Assault Detail at 229-3421 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
