Pahrump schools to replace swamp coolers with air conditioners

School trustees awarded the job of refitting the air conditioning systems at Manse and Mt. Charleston elementary schools to Complete Construction of Las Vegas at a low bid of $322,113.

Pupils in grades K-8 now are on year-round schedules and the goal is to keep them cool and comfortable in their classrooms this summer, district maintenance and operations supervisor Don Brod told the Pahrump Valley Times.

He said he would like to replace the remaining swamp coolers at the high school eventually, but since pupils there still get the summer off, that will have to wait.
