Michigan K-Wings 3, Quebec Rafales 0

QUEBEC CITY--The Michigan K-Wings (35-27-7) snapped a three-game losing streak, and took over fourth place in the IHL Central Division, Tuesday by shutting out the Quebec Rafales 3-0 at Le Colisee. Peter Douris put Michigan on the board 4:56 into the game. Jason Botterill and John Emmons added power play goals to seal the win. Michigan goalie Manny Fernandez faced and stopped 27 Quebec shots. Frederick Deschesne made 29 saves on 32 chances for the Rafales, who fall to 25-47-7.

Orlando Solar Bears 7, San Antonio Dragons 2

ORLANDO--The Orlando Solar Bears (40-29-10) scored five times in the first period on the way to their third straight win, 7-2 over the San Antonio Dragons (24-47-8) Tuesday before 8,459 at the Orlando Arena. Grigori Panteleyev scored twice in the opening stanza, starting with the game-winner at 8:16, and assisted on a second-period tally by Reggie Savage. Scott Hollis, Dave Mackey and Grant Richison had a goal and an assist apiece, and Hubie McDonough scored his 29th of the season. The Dragons were shut out until the third period, when goalie David Littman allowed goals by Dan Lupo at 3:30 and Andy Roach at 15:15. Littman faced 42 shots, and made 40 saves. The Dragons' Scott Bailey turned away 26 of 33.

Fort Wayne Komets 4, Detroit Vipers 3

AUBURN HILLS, Mich.--The Fort Wayne Komets (46-27-5) took a 4-3 win -- and a 5-4 season advantage -- over the Detroit Vipers in a battle of the IHL Eastern Conference's top playoff seeds Tuesday at the Palace. A crowd of 10,116 saw the Komets win their fourth straight by ending the Vipers' three-game run. Viacheslav Butsayev sparked Fort Wayne's comeback from a 2-1 deficit, setting up a shorthanded goal by Andrei Bashkirov to tie the score, and netting the game-winner at 13:59 of the third period. Dan Currie and Todd Reirdon rounded out the scoring for Fort Wayne, who took only 16 shots. Phil Crowe's first period goal pulled the Vipers (46-19-15) into a 1-1 tie, and Andy Bezeau made the score 2-1 at 3:10 of the second. Patrice Tardif assisted on both early goals. Detroit didn't score again until Steve Walker's goal at 16:05 of the third. Scott LaGrand posted the win in goal, with 38 saves on Detroit's 41 shots. Marc Magliarditi stopped 12 for the Vipers.

Long Beach Ice Dogs 8, Las Vegas Thunder 3

LAS VEGAS--The Long Beach Ice Dogs (50-20-9) posted their league-high 26th road win Tuesday, 8-3 over the Las Vegas Thunder (32-37-10) before 5,986 at the Thomas & Mack Center. Kevin Todd paced the Southwest Division leaders with two goals and an assist. Long Beach took control in the first period, with unanswered power play goals by Claude Jutras and Todd. John Byce, Vitali Yachmenev, Dan Lambert, Patrik Augusta, Todd and Joe Blaznek added second-period tallies to make the score 8-0. The Thunder rallied in the third period, starting with Petr Nedved's goal 35 seconds in. Nedved also assisted on power play tallies by Jesse Belanger and Trevor Roenick to finish with three points in his Thunder debut. Winning goalie Kay Whitmore faced 26 shots and made 23 saves. Thunder starter Manny Legace stopped 19 of 24 and was credited with the loss. Tim Cheveldae turned away eight of 11 in the final 30:05.
