A complaint filed by the board charges Roy Hansen with six counts of unprofessional conduct.
Authorities also allege Hansen mishandled an examination and treatment of an infant who died in December 1993.
The charges were filed following an investigation by the board in cooperation with the Elko County Sheriff's Office.
According to Elk County Undersheriff Clair Morris, Hansen purported to be able to cure cancer.
"We'd send people in who were perfectly healthy and he'd diagnose them with cancer and say he could cure them and take their money," Morris said.
"I got a little bit of a problem with that."
