Three face trial in cab driver’s death
Tuesday, April 7, 1998 | 10:18 a.m.
Tuesday's appearances came after portions of a grand jury transcript revealed that a 20-year-old man said "let's party" as a verbal clue to his accomplices, then fired the fatal shot.
Shawn Harte of Fallon confessed to shooting John Castro and robbing him on Oct. 26 after working out the code with 24-year-old Weston Sirex.
Washoe County sheriff's detective Larry Canfield told grand jurors that "let's party" was the signal to kill the cabdriver.
Harte, Sirex and 19-year-old Latisha Babb face murder and robbery charges. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
