JACKPOT SOARING -- Nevada Megabucks has topped the $15 million mark. The world record progressive jackpot reached that plateau early Monday and continued to climb today. Whoever hits it will break the record $12,510,559 jackpot hit by Las Vegan Suzanne Henley last April 14 at the New York-New York hotel-casino. Since that mark was surpassed two months ago, play on the dollar reel machines has been heavy at times. Gamblers at some locations have waited in lines for the 650 slots in 129 Nevada casinos to become available. To date, 46 people have hit the main Megabucks jackpot for a total of $219 million. The last was an $8.3 million payout on July 13 at a Lake Tahoe resort. The machines are manufactured and maintained by International Game Technology.
