Man killed as he batters woman who charged him with stalking
Tuesday, April 7, 1998 | 10:22 a.m.
Terry White, 33, was shot early Tuesday as he was beating Tracy Templeton, 33, Sheriff Neil Harris said. The fatal shots apparently were fired by Ms. Templeton's 15-year-old son after he tried unsuccessfully to stop the beating, Harris said.
Sheriff Detective Mike Kolsch said White was hit twice in the upper torso, once from the front and once from the back, apparently by shots fired from a .22-caliber pistol.
Harris said deputies responded to Ms. Templeton's home after she called 911 for help. She was hospitalized for treatment of a broken cheekbone, a broken nose and cuts, Harris said.
White was released Monday night after serving a 25-day contempt of court sentence for failing to pay fines assessed for his conviction of stalking Ms. Templeton last June.
Harris said he 15-year-old was questioned on Tuesday, but no charges had been filed. The 15-year-old and a 3-year-old were the only other people in the home at the time of the shooting.
