Children’s art to be auctioned

The paintings to be exhibited and auctioned are created by children who attend Art Classes for Kids. In weekly summer camps, these young artists develop learning skills to create drawings, paintings and sculptures that each artist keeps. Each week concludes with a group project painting, which is then displayed at various locations in the community before being auctioned off with proceeds benefiting a local charity. For the second consecutive year, Kids for Kids has selected the Nevada Institute for Contemporary Art children's education program as the benefactor.

The Kids for Kids Auction exhibit is free to the public. Interested bidders may place a silent bid during gallery hours and be present at the closing reception on April 26 when final bids will be taken from 1 p.m. until announcement of winning bids at 3 p.m. The closing reception will feature a free kids' Interactive Art Center.

NICA's gallery hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The program has been funded, in part, by a grant from the Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
