Milwaukee Admirals 2, Indianapolis Ice 1 (SO)

INDIANAPOLIS--Steve Tuttle and Jarrett Deuling scored in the first two shootout rounds to push the Milwaukee Admirals (42-30-4) past the Indianapolis Ice 2-1 Friday before 2,892 at Market Square Arena. Admirals goalie Danny Lorenz held the Ice scoreless through the four-round tiebreaker to preserve the team's fourth straight win. Both teams scored within a span of less than two minutes in the second period. Eric Manlow gave Indianapolis a 1-0 lead at 3:03, but Eric Fenton tied the score on a power play at 4:35. Both Lorenz and Ice netminder Jani Hurme stopped 28 of 29 shots in regulation. Indianapolis falls to 38-35-6 after their second consecutive loss.

Fort Wayne Komets 5, Chicago Wolves 4

FORT WAYNE, Ind.--Todd Reirdon scored at 14:13 of the third period to help the Fort Wayne Komets snap a three-game losing streak by beating the Chicago Wolves 5-4 Friday night. The IHL division leaders met in front of a Memorial Coliseum crowd of 6,346. Viacheslav Butsayev led the way for Fort Wayne (43-27-5) with two goals and an assist. Steffon Walby and Dan Currie had one goal and one assist apiece, and Guy Dupuis assisted on three Komets tallies. The Wolves (50-24-3), who have clinched first place in the Central Division, led 2-1 after first-period goals by former Quebec Rafales teammates Steve Larouche and Marc Rodgers. After the Komets pulled ahead in the second period, Scott Pearson sparked a late rally with a goal 3:07 into the third period and the lone assist on Steve Martins' game-tying tally 26 seconds later. Goalie Bruce Racine kept Fort Wayne in the game by stopping 37 of the Wolves' 41 shots. Wendell Young faced 25 and made 20 saves for Chicago before being ejected for disputing Reirdon's deciding goal. Stephane Beauregard faced and stopped one shot in relief.

Orlando Solar Bears 4, Houston Aeros 3 (SO)

HOUSTON--The Orlando Solar Bears (38-29-10) beat the Houston Aeros 4-3 Friday, on Hubie McDonough's goal in the second shootout round. A crowd of 9,218 was on hand at the Compaq Center. Mark Beaufait also scored in the Solar Bears' 2-1 tiebreaker win. In regulation, Eric Nickulus had an unassisted goal in the first period, and Grigori Panteleyev and Anders Bjork scored to give Orlando a 3-2 lead at the second intermission. Houston's lone shootout scorer, Brian Wiseman, also moved into a tie for second on the IHL assist chart by helping set up first-period tallies by Greg Hawgood and David Oliver. Brent Hughes scored on a power play at 6:24 of the third period to send the game to the shootout. Orlando netminder David Littman faced 21 shots and made 18 saves in regulation, while Ryan Bach turned away 19 of 22 for the Aeros.

Manitoba Moose 4, Michigan K-Wings 3

WINNIPEG--Brad Purdie assisted on Ralph Intranuovo's game-tying goal, then netted the game-winner at 16:15 of the second period as the Manitoba Moose (37-35-7) beat the Michigan K-Wings 4-3 Friday night at Winnipeg Arena. A crowd of 8,014 saw the Moose extend their winning streak to four games and boost their overall point total to a franchise-high 81. Scott Arneil put Manitoba on the board 1:15 into the game, then assisted on Greg Pankewicz's goal at 2:58 to give the Moose a 2-0 lead. Michel Mongeau assisted on both first-period goals, and Brian Chapman picked up his 300th career regular-season point with an assist on Intranuovo's second-period tally. Michigan (34-37-7) tied the score before the intermission, with goals from Marty Flichel at 6:24 and Peter Douris at 17:50. Jeff Mitchell gave the K-Wings their only lead of the game 12:56 into the second period. Johan Hedburg, who entered the Manitoba goal as a second-period replacement for starter Fred Brathwaite, made 15 saves on as many shots to post the win. Brathwaite faced 16 and made 13 saves. Larry Dyck finished with 34 saves in goal for the K-Wings, who have dropped their last three.

San Antonio Dragons 5, Las Vegas Thunder 4 (SO)

SAN ANTONIO--The San Antonio Dragons (24-45-8) snapped a three-game losing streak with Friday night's 5-4 shootout win over the Las Vegas Thunder. The Southwest Division matchup drew 5,017 to Freeman Coliseum. The Dragons outscored Las Vegas 2-1 in the five-round tiebreaker. Davis Payne, who had two goals and an assist in regulation, put away the deciding shootout tally. Kurt Mallett, who also scored in the shootout, finished with one goal and one assist in regulation time. Daniel Shank's 36th goal of the season, at 11:29 of the third period, tied the score 4-4. Trevor Roenick and Russ Romaniuk gave Vegas (32-35-10) a 2-0 lead within the first six minutes of the game. IHL scoring leader Patrice Lefebvre scored in the third period for the Thunder, as did Rodrigo Lavinish. Scott Bailey picked off 37 of 41 Las Vegas shots in regulation. Manny Legace started for the Thunder, but made just one save before leaving with an injury at 1:29 of the first period. Tim Cheveldae suffered the loss, with 24 saves on 28 chances.

Kansas City Blades 4, Grand Rapid Griffins 2

KANSAS CITY--The Kansas City Blades (40-27-11) scored twice in the third period to take a 4-2 win over the Grand Rapids Griffins Friday before 4,893 at Kemper Arena. The Blades have the IHL's longest active win streak, six games. Dave Chyzowski won the game with a power play goal 8:16 into the final period, and Mike Craig added an insurance tally 3:32 later. Shawn Heins scored in the first period and David Bruce, who also assisted on the deciding goal, picked up his 20th of the season at 7:29 of the second. Glen Metropolit and Mark Cornforth scored for the Griffins, both with an assist from Ed Patterson. Peter Skudra posted the win in goal, with 26 saves on 28 Grand Rapids shots. Ian Gordon turned away 22 of 26 as the Griffins fell to 36-30-12, third in the IHL Northeast Division.

Utah Grizzlies 2, Long Beach Ice Dogs 1

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah--Greg Spenrath scored at 6:31 of the third period to give the third-place Utah Grizzlies (47-23-8) a 2-1 win over the Southwest Division-leading Long Beach Ice Dogs Friday before 8,207 at the "E" Center. Grizzlies goalie Mark MacArthur made 28 saves, 14 of them in the third period, to take star of the game honors. Both teams scored on power plays in the first period: Utah's Mark Lawrence at 5:15, and Patrik Augusta for Long Beach (49-20-9) at 8:52. The Grizzlies took only 18 shots. Long Beach netminder Kay Whitmore finished with 16 saves. After the Utah win, only five points separate the top three teams in the race for the division title.
