Friday's blaze forced one Brookside Villas resident to gather up her iguana, tarantula, boa constrictor and caged ferrets, and move them outside.
After determining the iguana, Chuckie, suffered a mild reaction from smoke inhalation, firefighters revived the creature by placing an oxygen mask over its mouth.
At least eight people were left homeless after the fire broke out in a unit. It was touched off by a welder doing shower maintenance.
It took firefighters a few minutes to put out the blaze.
