Weekend Update: Music, Theater, Etc.

SKA AGAINST RACISM -- Top Third Wave ska acts bring their effort to raise awareness about racism to the stage at the Huntridge Theater at 8 tonight. You'll hear more ska than you believed possible from such acts as Less Than Jake, The Toasters, Blue Meanies, Five Iron Frenzy and Mike "Bruce Lee" Park. The Huntridge is at 1208 E. Charleston Blvd. Tickets are $17.50 at the door.

MOZART THE MAGNIFICENT -- The Southern Nevada Musical Arts Society will perform the monumental Requiem, K. 626, at 3 p.m. Sunday at UNLV's Ham Hall. Also on the program, the Nevada premiere of Haydn's Requiem in C minor. Admission is $10 at the Ham Hall box office, 895-3801, or at Dillard's department store, (800) 654-9545.

A WEEKEND IN OLD VIENNA -- Two gala balls will feature the Paragon Ballroom Ensemble playing the romantic waltzes and lively polkas of Johann Strauss in the ballroom at Charleston Heights Arts Center, 800 S. Brush Street. Saturday's ball begins at 8 p.m. and Sunday's at 2 p.m. Dancers are encouraged to wear period (1856-1899) costumes and prizes will be awards. Tickets at the door are $12, $10 for students, seniors and the disabled.

'SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS' -- The heartwarming tale of seven Oregon pioneers and their quest for brides brings such toe-tappin' songs as "Sobbin Women," "Goin' Courtin" and "Bless Your Beautiful Hide" to life at the Summerlin Library theater, 1771 Inner Circle Drive, at 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday. Tickets are $15 and $18, $13 and $16 for seniors and students 13 and older, $10 for kids 12 and under. To order, call 878-PLAY.

DINOSAUR EASTER EGG HUNT -- Since dinosaur eggs are too big to hide, kids will hunt for their goodies from clues left around the Natural History Museum Saturday and Sunday. All the animatronic dinosaurs and live sharks will be in action as well, so it'll be a fun hunt. Admission is $5, $4 for students, seniors and military, and $2.50 for kids 4-12 at the door at 900 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Call 384-DINO.

A GATHERING FOR FLYING GEESE -- See the exquisite stichery and design skills of local quilters at the Henderson Convention Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. There will be a miniature quilt auction on Saturday and an appliqued quilt raffle on Sunday. Admission will be charged at the door at 200 S. Water Street.

NATIVE AMERICAN ARTS FESTIVAL -- The Clark County Heritage Museum, 1830 S. Boulder Highway in Henderson, has attracted more than 40 Indian artists and craftsmen to show and sell their work, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, in this year's Festival Craft Market. Native foods will be sold and traditional dancers will perform. A special treat: Native American flutist Ron Martinez. Admission is $2.50, $2 for seniors and children.

CRAFTERS VILLAGE -- Everybody will be there, even the Easter Bunny! Where? At the third annual Crafters Village at Cashman Field, running through 8 p.m. today, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Crafters of dolls, manikins, fudge and other foods and decorative furnishings will offer their treasures; the Tumbleweeds barbershop quartet will entertain; and Charley the Clown will tickle the funnybones of old and young alike. Tickets at the gate are $5, $4 for seniors and $2 for kids 6-16.
