Phoenix broadcaster buying Las Vegas station

CRC Broadcasting Co. said Thursday the acquisition would give businesses that share the Phoenix and Las Vegas markets an opportunity to reach audiences in both cities through one radio company.

KNUU is a 5,000-watt station that focuses on news and talk much as does CRC's news-talk station KFNN in Phoenix. Both are AM stations.

"Las Vegas and Phoenix have tremendous synergies in both population growth and demographic trends," CRC President Ron Cohen said. "I think a lot of Phoenix companies are currently doing business in Las Vegas or are at least thinking of it. Now they will have an effective way to market in both cities."

For the transaction, CRC created a wholly owned subsidiary, Nevada Media Group Inc.

KNUU is owned by K-News Broadcasting Inc.

The deal is subject to FCC approval.

Besides the Phoenix station, CRC also conducts radio and investment trade shows.
