Obituaries for April 1, 1998

Rose Alley, 97, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 29, 1900, in Morris, Minn. A resident for 52 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, June Alley and Sandra Marnell, both of Las Vegas; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon-5 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. A rosary will be 10 a.m. Friday in St. James Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday in St. James. Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Friday in Memory Gardens.

The family suggests donations to St. James Catholic Church, 820 N. H St., Las Vegas, NV 89106.

KATHLEEN MAY ANDERSON

Kathleen May Anderson, 58, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 13, 1939, in Los Angeles. A resident for three years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Katrina Sprague of LaVista, Neb., and Traci Jones of San Antonio; two sons, Raymond Trujillo and Donald Trujillo, both of Las Vegas; and four grandchildren.

Visitation was scheduled 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. services today in Bunker Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Burial followed in Eden Vale Memorial Park.

OSCA MARIE BAESE

Osca Marie Baese, 85, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. A resident for five years, she was born March 21, 1913, in Omro, Wis.

She is survived by one daughter, Karen K. Bouziden of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

NAZARENO NICK BARBERINI

Nazareno Nick Barberini, 77, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 20, 1920, in Yonkers, N.Y. A resident for 13 years, he was a commercial truck driver and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Elia; two sons, Thomas Barberini of Las Vegas and Joseph Barberini of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two daughters, Vera Costantini and Laura Barberini, both of Las Vegas; two sisters, Antoinette Cacace of Yonkers and Elma Lancellotti of Goldens Bridge, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-9 p.m. Thursday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Davis Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

BERNARD J. BENKA SR.

Bernard J. Benka Sr., 75, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 19, 1922, in Milwaukee. A resident for six years, he was a retired firefighter, a World War II Army veteran and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars 2112.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; two daughters, Patricia Pfeil of Oconomowoc, Wis., and Elizabeth Schneller of Sparta, Wis.; three sons, Richard Burke of West Lafayette, Ind., Eugene Benka of Jefferson, Wis., and Bernard Benka Jr. of Las Vegas; three sisters, Dorothy Elonen of Iron River, Wis., Elsie Sylke of Kenosha, Wis., and Rose Ellis of Rosewood, Ore.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

HI SOON BRUMBACK

Hi Soon Brumback, 63, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 22, 1934, in North Korea. A resident for 20 years, she was a hotel housekeeper.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; one son, Dwayne Brumback of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

Visitation will continue until 8 p.m. today in Bunker Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in the Full Gospel Church of Las Vegas. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens.

DOROTHY EUGENIA CARSON

Dorothy Eugenia Carson, 75, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 21, 1922, in Chicago. A resident for 15 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Edward E.; three sons, Terry Carson of Las Vegas, Leon Carson of San Francisco and Edward Carson of Chicago; five daughters, Jean Anderson, Shirley Swesky, Darlene Rogers and Laura Lunkes, all of Chicago, and Sandra Ceccato of Las Vegas; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 5 p.m. Friday in Griffith United Methodist Church, 1701 E. Oakey Blvd. Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2121 Western Ave., Suite A-3, is handling arrangements.

ANNE E. COLLINS

Anne E. Collins, 86, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born April 26, 1911, in Nashua, Mont. A resident for 40 years, she was a retired registered nurse and a World War II Navy veteran.

She is survived by three nieces, Barbara Fenstermacher of Tempe, Ariz., Jane Andersch of Murray, Utah, and Donna Kreinbring of Las Vegas.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Bridget's Catholic Church. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

The family suggests donations to the Clark County Humane Society.

WILLIAM YOSHIO ENDOW SR.

William Yoshio Endow Sr., 61, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born July 1, 1936, in Hood River, Ore. A resident for 38 years, he was a department manager for a mechanical engineering firm, an Army veteran, a Life Scout, former Scout Master of Troop 78, a member of the Asian Chamber of Commerce and a longtime member of the Japanese-American Citizens League.

He is survived by his wife, Robin; two sons, William Endow Jr. of New York City and Stephen Endow of Glendale, Calif.; two sisters, Connie Ichiyama of Honolulu and Mitsue Salador of New York; and one brother, Sho Endow of Hood River.

A memorial service will be noon Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

The family suggests donations to Japanese-American Citizens League, 1316 S. Eighth St., Las Vegas, NV 89104.

CAMERINA TRUJILLO GONZALEZ

Camerina Trujillo Gonzalez, 95, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 5, 1903, in Comala, Mexico. A resident for two years, she was a retired seamstress and a naturalized citizen.

She is survived by one daughter, Rosario Elena Behrens, and one son, Cesar A. Gonzalez, both of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Los Angeles. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

ADA LEE HALL

Ada Lee Hall, 94, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 9, 1903, in Tennessee. A resident for five years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Wil Schoonover of Las Vegas and Ed Schoonover of Modesto, Calif.; two daughters, Betty Jones of Crockett, Texas, and Dolores Kempton of Vallejo, Calif.; 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 33 great-great-grandchildren.

JOHN RICHARD KAGIE

John Richard Kagie, 66, of North Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 15, 1931, in Hayden, Colo. A resident for 21 years, he was a retired electronics repairman and a Korean War Army veteran.

He is survived by one sister, Eleanor Blomquist of Craig, Colo.

Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Thursday in Palm Memorial Park. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

PATRICK F. LAWN

Patrick F. Lawn, 67, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 5, 1930, in Medford, Mass. A resident for five years, he was a factory worker for Spaulding Fibre Co., in Tonawanda, N.Y., a Korean War Navy veteran, a volunteer firefighter for Gratwick Hose Co., a member of the American Legion, American Association of Retired Persons, USS Worcester Club and Senior Friends of Las Vegas.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene; one daughter, Susan D'Angelo of North Tonawanda; one son, Brian Lawn of Jacksonville, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

ROBERT LEE MEREDITH

Robert Lee Meredith, 61, of Boulder City died March 11 in a local care center. An Army and Marine Corps veteran, he was born June 21, 1936, in Oklahoma.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

ROBERT S. NEWCOMBE

Robert S. Newcombe, 74, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born May 13, 1923, in Corona, Calif. A resident for more than 16 years, he was a retired color offset pressman and a World War II Coast Guard veteran.

He is survived by his companion, Terri Johnson of Henderson; one son, Steven C. Newcombe of Corvallis, Ore.; two daughters, Patricia G. Newcombe of Ontario, Calif., and Janet L. Newcombe of Huntington Beach, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m.-noon Friday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

RUSSELL STEWART

Russell Stewart, 68, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born July 21, 1929, in New York. A resident for seven years, he was a postmaster and a retired Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Helga; two sons, Sig and Paul; his mother, Mary; one sister, Barbara Stewart Beller; and two grandchildren.

JUDITH M. TWEEDIE

Judith M. Tweedie, 45, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born July 16, 1952, in Cincinnati. A resident for four years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her ex-husband, David O. Tweedie, and two daughters, Lisa Tweedie and Jillian Tweedie, all of Pittsford, N.Y.; her mother, Jeanne Craig of Las Vegas; her father, James Buck Sr. of Charleston, S.C.; two sisters, Cathy Wortelboer of New Hampshire and Peggy Cook of Seattle; and three brothers, James Buck, Kevin Buck and Kelly Buck, all of Austin, Texas.

DARLA LAURA WATSON

Darla Laura Watson, 31, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 31, 1966, in Los Angeles. A resident for 12 1/2 years, she was a pantry worker at Caesars Palace and a member of the Culinary Union.

She is survived by one son, Bray Van Watson, one daughter, Jennifer Eden Watson, her parents, Jon Kenneth and Laura Watt, and one brother, Joseph Crowe, all of Las Vegas; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and her grandparents, Patrick C. and Mary Mantell of Riverside, Calif.
