While playing hundreds of high school football and basketball games as a student in Las Vegas and as a player three years at UNLV, at no time was any quote of any similarity attributed to me. Anyone who knows me knows I would not make such a statement. I have been in athletics long enough to know it doesn't pay to brag or be boastful, and I am very much aware of the rivalry between UNLV and Fresno State University.
Mostly, I am very disappointed Steve Carp would reprint the quote without first contacting me to get a response or without any effort to determine accuracy. I have known Steve for a very long time and have always cooperated with him whenever he requested. For years, whatever the hour of day or night, our family has always been available and open with Steve.
I worked hard at UNLV, in the classroom and on the court, and have wonderful memories of the school. No matter what the purpose or true reasons for Steve's actions, I will remain a positive supporter of the university.
