Elardi: Family happy with ‘whirlwind’ Frontier deal

The sale of the Frontier hotel-casino was orchestrated by Elardi family matriarch Margaret Elardi and came in a "whirlwind" deal that should end six years of labor tension smothering the resort, Frontier General Manager Tom Elardi said Wednesday.
"If she's happy with the deal, I'm happy," Elardi said after testifying at a trial over a guest who was beaten by Culinary Union strikers in a 1993 sidewalk altercation.
"Obviously the sale is a vehicle that certainly will let the union save face and get the property back in the mainstream," he said. "If it buries the hatchet, that's good."
Tom Elardi said the sale of the Frontier, which has consumed much of his time with the almost daily union conflicts, will give him more time to devote to his Casino Royale hotel-casino.
That resort also has been hampered by pickets, but he said they are there only because of the Frontier labor dispute and should be leaving when the Frontier sale is finalized.
