SUN STAFF REPORTS
The east valley's serial rapist may have surfaced again.
Detectives believe a man who on Sunday was seen jumping out of a back yard of a residence in the 5000 block of Sandstone Drive, near Charleston and Nellis boulevards, closely resembles the serial rapist that has been victimizing young girls residing in that general area.
No one was attacked in the incident, police said.
"We are again asking that all residents secure their homes, particularly sliding glass doors and windows," which have been the rapist's usual path of entry, said Lt. Brad Simpson of Metro's sexual assault detail. "The cooperation of the public is crucial."
The prowler has been described as a white male, 27-32 years old, 6 feet to 6 feet 2, 200-210 pounds, muscular build, and long black hair that was tucked under a plain black baseball cap. Police are not sure of his eye color.
He was wearing a new, black, baggy, short-sleeve crew-neck T-shirt without a logo, black pants and all black boxing-type shoes.
Police ask that anyone with information about the prowler call the sexual assault series hotline at 229-2654 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
