Lander County Superintendent Leon Hensley told the Battle Mountain Bugle that a panel of administrators, teachers and pupils had upheld the decision to keep the girl at home for the equivalent of a semester.
She has no criminal record, but school Principal Tom Brannan said the seriousness of her actions justified the 3-month suspension.
He said one hour was spent searching the building, which cost the district $900 in lost salaries in addition to the expenses incurred by the sheriff's office and fire department.
