United Blood Services Offering Donors a Free Mid-Day Cruise from Lake Mead Cruises

Published on Wed, Jul 9, 2014 (4:38 p.m.)

LAS VEGAS (July 9, 2014) – United Blood Services of Las Vegas (UBS) is offering blood donors a voucher good for one mid-day sightseeing cruise courtesy of Lake Mead Cruises. Donors supplying blood or platelets at any of the three Southern Nevada UBS locations and select mobile blood drives in July are eligible to receive a voucher.

Lake Mead Cruises offers multiple cruises that explore the waters of picturesque Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam. Riders can enjoy the scenery aboard a three-level, Mississippi-style paddle-wheeler. Tours run daily throughout the summer.

“We’re always searching for ways to say ‘thank you’ to our donors and provide them with the opportunity to take part in fun and unique activities,” said Paul Milakeve, donor recruitment manager at UBS. “We’d like to thank Lake Mead Cruises for their generous gift.”

UBS relies on local blood donations to make sure blood is available for those in need. The nonprofit organization aims to provide a safe and ample blood supply, while producing advanced cutting-edge research. UBS currently has a need for all blood types, especially O negative and O positive. O is the universal blood type and the only type that can be transfused to patients with different blood types.

To schedule an appointment or to donate blood, call 702 228-4483 or visit one of United Blood Services’ three Southern Nevada locations:
• 6930 W. Charleston Blvd., Las Vegas, NV
• 601 Whitney Ranch Drive, Suite 20, Henderson, NV
• 4950 W. Craig Road, Las Vegas, NV
UBS is always interested in creating partnerships for new blood drive sponsors in our community. To learn more about organizing a mobile blood drive, please call Paul Milakeve at 702-612-8557.
